Floor Plan Designer
Draw the plan of a house, flat or office: walls, rooms, doors, windows and furniture. Room sizes and carpet area update as you draw, and a Vastu overlay shows which direction each room faces. Start from a template or a blank page.
Click an item, then click on the plan to place it. Press R to rotate it, drag its corner dot to resize.
How to draw a floor plan
- Start from a template (studio, 1BHK or 2BHK) with New…, or from a blank page.
- Room tool: drag a rectangle to create a room with four walls. Rooms drawn next to each other share their wall automatically.
- Wall tool: click to start, click again for each corner, and double-click or press Enter to finish. Walls snap to 45° angles (hold Shift for any angle). While drawing, type a length such as
12'6,3.5mor14and press Enter to make the wall exactly that long. - Door and Window tools: hover over a wall and click. Select a door to change its width, which way it opens (F flips it) or to mark it as the main entrance.
- Label tool: click inside any area closed by walls to make it a room. Pick its type (bedroom, kitchen…) in Properties. Rooms follow their walls: move a wall and the room's size and area update.
- Furniture: pick an item in the Furniture tab and click to place it. R rotates, Ctrl+D duplicates, Delete removes.
Move around with Ctrl+scroll or pinch to zoom, and drag with the Pan tool, the middle mouse button, two fingers or Space+drag. In full screen the mouse wheel zooms too.
Carpet area and built-up area
The Areas tab lists every room with its size and floor area. Carpet area is the floor you can actually walk on, measured inside the walls. Built-up area also includes the thickness of the walls, measured to the outside face of the outer walls. In India, the RERA Act 2016 requires flats to be sold by carpet area, and builders often quote a larger super built-up area that adds a share of the lobbies, stairs and other common areas, which this tool doesn't include.
Vastu overlay
Vastu Shastra is a traditional Indian system of architecture that links each direction with a purpose. Turn on the overlay in the Vastu tab, set which way north points on your plan, and the tool divides the house into the eight directions plus the centre (Brahmasthan). It then shows the zone of every room with the usual recommendations, for example the kitchen in the south-east (Agni corner), the master bedroom in the south-west, a prayer room in the north-east and the centre kept open. Vastu is a cultural tradition, not engineering, and practitioners differ in the details, so treat the notes as a guide.

Saving and privacy
Your plan is saved automatically in this browser, so it's still there next time. Use Export to download a PNG image, print it or save it as a PDF with a room schedule, or save a project file to open on another computer. Nothing is uploaded. This is a planning sketch tool, not a substitute for drawings by an architect or a structural engineer.
